Playlist - 9/13/2015 - Bill Monroe's Birthday

Hi Folks.

Bill Monroe (L) and Charlie Monroe (R)
Bill Monroe would have celebrated his 104th birthday if he were still with us, so we celebrated by using the hour remaining following a sports preemption to examine Bill's early recorded works starting with the Monroe Brothers in 1936 and ending with the first recording of the Blue Grass Boys with Lester and Earl in the band.  We heard a few of his influences, too, including Jimmie Rodgers and J. E. Mainer's Mountaineers with Snuffy Jenkins.

Tune in next week for another visit to our recorded past.
